I test drove it Sunday and I pick it up Friday, the last time i had been in a mini cooper S was a prototype about 10 years ago when I was at working at my first job as an IT support tech for Ricardo in Shoreham-by-sea working.
I made a website just for it as I’ve been relearning how to make websites

The Small World of Linux
Posted in Uncategorized on April 14th, 2011 by GingI’ve been doing the new job for about a month now and am actually finding it surprisingly easy. I thought the first few months would be quite a steep learning curve but it has turned out my existing knowledge has carried me a lot further than I thought it would, still learning a fair few things as I go, and a long way to go before I reach the level where I’ll consider myself an expert.
The thing I have found most surprising over the passed few weeks is quite how often I am coming across people I already know from the various Internet and linux communities I’m part of. It seems that the world of linux is perhaps a lot smaller than I used to think, starting to make me wonder if i should have dicked about so much on IRC over the years.
Old Job
Posted in Uncategorized on April 4th, 2011 by GingI left my old job a couple of weeks ago, I gave full notice, worked my notice period and believed i had left of perfectly good terms. I could have been a dick about it the way they had treated me over the years and fucked them over, but i decided to stick to the rules.
My girl friend still works for the company and so from time to time when i am not working i will drive her to work. The second time i dropped her off she was told my her manager that i was no longer allowed into the car park to use the drop off area any more as i no longer worked there. that’s how petty and pathetic my old work place are. A couple of days latter when i was parked outside the company’s main gate waiting to pick her up some guy claiming to be the depo safety manager told me I couldn’t park outside the gates and had to move, I asked him where I should move to and he shouted at me “I don’t care just not here,” I thought leaving that job i would be totally free from all that sort of bullshit, but i will have to wait till my gf gets a new job too.
First Week As A Linux Engineer
Posted in Uncategorized on March 25th, 2011 by GingThis week was my first week on my new job. I recently got a new job monitoring amd supporting servers for an open source software consultancy.
It’s been an interesting week, i only actually had 1 work shift but i have been keeping quite busy.
Last week i picked up an SIP voip phone adapter from the new office so i can be on thier phone system while working from home. This was a nightmare to setup, it turns out it wasn’t working as the stun server for it had crashed and i wasted half my weekend trying to talk to a server that wasnt listening.
My first and only shift this week was monday early morning. I didn’t get off to a great start, my first issue was a low space warning on file server, the first thing i did was use the wrong login details and get myself locked out to watch it’s free space alert slowly tick down while i franticly tried to find another way to access it.
Eventually i did get in and eventually just after it managed to stablise it’s self with a few gig to spare. Other than that i didnt have mutch else to do except try and undo some of the harm i’d done while blundering around trying to gain access.
The rest of the week i have been at home getting board trying to install ubuntu to my old desktop and failing quite miserably, the same pc that i was able to install 8.04 to when i first got into ubuntu with increadible ease
New Server running Lenny
Posted in Uncategorized on April 1st, 2010 by GingI’ve decided to ditch using ubuntu on my vps and try out debian
partly to try something new but mainly because the xen hypervisor that the bitfolk servers use does not like the newer versions of ubuntu.
I decided that rather than try to just take it down and rebuild it i’ve rented an extra vps for a month
this way i have a whole month to get my server running just how i want it to before switching over
